AXA Supports Football Club “Jelgava”
JSC “Rīgas Dzirnavnieks” has become the sponsor of Latvian Football Championship LMT Latvian Higher League debutant FK “Jelgava” for the 2010 season. Along with supporting the team, JSC “Rīgas Dzirnavnieks” has also started cooperation with Youth Football Centre “Jelgava”, where 300 children and teenagers of all age play football. The initiated cooperation also includes education for youth concerning the meaning of a healthy lifestyle.
For FK “Jelgava” to have a sufficient amount of energy to reach its ambitious goals in the Latvian Championship of the LMT Latvian Higher League, “Rīgas Dzirnavnieks” will supply the team for the entire duration of the season with wholemeal AXA products, which are a part of a complete diet. During the entire season, visits within the framework of AXA Kids Sports School and joint training sessions are scheduled and will be held in schools together with the club’s footballers to invite children to choose an active and healthy lifestyle.
The goal of AXA Kids Sports School is to join together with athletes to invite children and youth to pay attention to sports activities and a wholesome and healthy daily diet. AXA cereal products are a part of a well-balanced diet and are a valuable source of energy both in sports and daily life. The main value of cereal is carbohydrates, which help maintain a person’s energy level, and fibre, which helps the body regulate digestive functions.
The Football Club “Jelgava” was established with this name in 2004, but the history of football in Jelgava is much older, dating back to 1977, when the club “Metālists Jelgava” was established, followed by “Automobīlists Jelgava” and “RAF Jelgava” in later years. These clubs had successful starts both in USSR and Latvian championships.
